The Biggest Challenge for PET Bottle Flake Recyclers: Improving the Efficiency of "Non-Ferrous Metal" Sorting
For PET bottle recycling businesses, the ability to provide "high-purity PET flakes" as raw material is a key factor in determining the competitiveness of the industry. However, Taiwan’s waste recycling classification is not as thorough as that of Japan, which often results in PET bottles being mixed with miscellaneous debris, such as iron cans and aluminum cans, of various sizes during the recycling process. As these materials of different compositions pass through the recycling machine's crushing and destruction system, they turn into small metal particles and fragments that are difficult to calculate and sort accurately. This significantly lowers the purity and commercial value of PET flakes. The challenge of removing these "non-ferrous and ferrous metal" wastes mixed in with the plastic flakes is the most pressing issue PET bottle recyclers face. Collaboration Opportunity: Sparked by Repair Work on a Competitor’s "Eddy Current Separator"
With the need for an "eddy current separator" in mind, the plant manager of this large PET bottle flake recycling factory in Tainan learned through the introduction of peers in Taiwan's recycling industry that Nian Hung Magnetic Industrial Co., Ltd. is the only professional company in Taiwan capable of manufacturing "eddy current separators." They believed that Nian Hung could repair their malfunctioning eddy current separation equipment and therefore proactively contacted the company. Despite the unfamiliar design and construction of the eddy current magnetic separator from a different manufacturer, Nian Hung's technical team quickly familiarized themselves with the machine's operating procedures, identified the malfunction, and completed the repair project in a timely manner.
Beyond Repairs: Custom Planning of Two Sorting Machines to Significantly Increase Recycling Capacity
To prevent similar problems from recurring, Nian Hung's technical team also planned and installed a new "vertical magnetic separator with a stainless steel casing" at the front end of the PET bottle recycling factory's production line. The "vertical magnetic separator" effectively sorts out small ferrous metals, and the stainless steel casing prevents rusting. This combination of features protects the internal machinery’s core components, maintaining the efficiency of key parts. Together with the "vibrating feeder" assistance, these improvements successfully increased the PET bottle flake recycling capacity to an impressive 5 tons per hour.
